Abstract

We made a complete k space mapping of the Fermi surface of a Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ (Bi2212) high-Tc superconductor at the optimum doping (Tc=91 K) by angle scanning photoemission using high-intensity synchrotron radiation. We measured the Fermi surface of the Bi2212 in the even and odd symmetry to discriminate different initial states by matrix element effects. The observed features are discussed in terms of a strongly interacting electron gas forming a superlattice of quantum stripes in the CuO2 plane.
