Abstract
Although the delivery of electronic news is well suited to exploit the promised high bandwidth, switched, interactive communication facilities of the information highway, its effectiveness depends on the emergence of digital libraries of electronic news data. Our initial investigations and prototyping experiences indicate that there are many open questions, including appropriate client/server architectures, abstract data representations, the use of personal agents, use of the UTF, amounts of information retrieved, categorization of news content, and automatic updating of personal user profiles.
