Applying of Multi-Plane Slip Surface Analysis Using Elevation Data of Terrain Before and After Slope Disaster to Investigate Landslide Mechanism

Abstract

In July 2017 in northern Kyushu, sediment-related disasters caused by heavy rainfall occurred over wide areas. As a result, a huge number of landslide have been confirmed. In conventional landslides, slope destabilization is majorly caused by a rise of groundwater level as a result of rainwater infiltration into the slope. On the other hand, the instability of the slope due to the scouring of the slope bottom is taken into consideration from the results of the field survey. Therefore in this study, an analysis program of Multi-Plane Slip Surface Method using elevation data of terrain provided by Fukuoka Prefecture was created for the purpose of elucidating the mechanism of landslide occurrence. After that, as a result of analyzing two patterns before and after the occurrence of scour, it became clear that there is a slope whose safety factor is significantly reduced by the scour loss at the base of the slope.
