Abstract
This contribution takes the form of a letter from Pope to geographer Dr. Saskia Warren, as part of an ongoing, cross-disciplinary conversation in relation to the author’s artwork Forward Back Together. It asks how our concept of participation is transformed when we consider the materialities of taking part, and in what ways this transforms our understanding of what constitutes a ‘public’ for public art. These themes are discussed in relation to Pope’s research that explores the ways that participatory modes of contemporary art can produce hybrid more-than-human social worlds.
