Abstract
This paper investigates the material removal rate (MRR) on different workpieces in the wire electric discharge machining (WEDM). The influences of process parameters were optimized to obtain the highest performance characteristics in the WEDM process. The effect of controllable process variables such as wire feed rate (WFR), pulse on time (TON), pulse off time (TOFF), gap voltage (Vg), and peak current (Ic) on MRR. The experiments were conducted on various workpieces such as mild steel, hot die steel, high carbon steel, and EN-31 with molybdenum and brass wire under varying input parameters, and their effects were studied. The experiments were conducted by varying an input parameter while keeping all the other variables constant. This study is useful in finding material removal rate for different workpieces.
