Abstract
Vinblastine and vincristine are all extracted from Catharanthus roseus, which is a common Apocynaceae ornamental plant. Vinblastine and vincristine drugs have a strong inhibitory effect on monozygotic leukemia, breast cancer, liver cancer, ovarian cancer, head and neck cancer, testicular cancer, solid sarcoma, and malignant melanin in a variety of spontaneous or transplanted lymphocytic leukemia. Although the structure of vinblastine and vincristine is very similar, there are some differences in pharmacological effects, and there is no cross-resistance. The mechanism of vinblastine and vincristine is similar as the cell cycle-specific antineoplastic agents. Clinical applications of vinblastine and vincristine are very broad, especially in China. Vinblastine sulfate injection as the main application form is used intravenously to treat Hodgkin lymphoma, lymphocytic leukemia, testis tumor, and choriocarcinoma as first-line therapy in clinical practice according to ABVD method. However, antitumor effects still face challenges, and have a long way to go. The process of research and development of vinblastine drugs will provide us more meaningful revelations.
