Support for the Prevention of Health Risks

Abstract

Research on health risks and their prevention focuses primarily on animals, plants and their pathogens. Yet, as discussed in the earlier chapters in this part of the book, production systems and activities developed by family farms call for the reorientation of this research to their specific needs and the expertise they have gained. Similarly, it is important for research outcomes to have social applicability. Even if not entirely dictated by familial forms of production systems, the work we present here is adapted to the specifics of family farming systems.
