Abstract

In a previous study1 we noticed that long-term ovariectomy (50–70 days) resulted in (a) a significant increase of the weight of the thymus, both absolute and relative, and (b) in a decrease of the relative adrenal weight when compared to intact rats of similar age. On the other hand, the administration of oestradiol benzoate (300 Mg/kg) for three consecutive days and a three day interval was followed by a significant decrease of the thymus weight, both absolute and relative and an increase of the relative adrenal weight reaching the level of thymus and adrenals found in intact rats.
