Abstract

Although the arsenal of drugs now available for interrupting episodes of tachycardia, as well as for preventing recurrences, is considerable, a substantial number of patients is not adequately controlled with antiarrhythmic drugs. The next papers will deal with some of the non-pharmacologic alternatives presently available. The role of the cardiac pacemakers will be discussed elsewhere.
