Provisional generic delimitation in the Haumaniastrum/Acrocephalus complex (Labiatae)

  • Chapter

Abstract

Generic delimitation within the “Acrocephalus group” of genera is discussed using a preliminary cladistic analysis. The African Haumaniastrum and an enlarged Asiatic, Madagascan and African Acrocephalus are recognized at this preliminary stage. Geniosporum as currently delimited is polyphyletic and it is suggested that the genus should not be recognized, its species being placed either in Acrocephalus or Limniboza. It is also proposed to merge Ceratanthus into Platostoma, which is the earlier name. It should be noted that these are preliminary conclusions and that no formal changes are made here.
