Abstract
Chinese vocational schools and colleges have been exploring various ways of facilitating ‘cooperation between school and enterprise’ to improve the quality of vocational education. This chapter describes a case study of school–enterprise cooperation through which the vocational school established partnership with suppliers by purchasing their facilities and exploited project-based teaching. The school entered a contract with the enterprise by purchasing its teaching equipments. With the main body of the production still being the enterprise, the production site was transferred to the campus, and the production was imbedded into the teaching and learning process. Students learned through an authentic work process, acquired competence and gained valuable experience within the school education system. Small- and medium-sized enterprises can also use the public resources of schools. The cooperation enabled both parties to work together and to achieve a win–win deal. It is hoped that this example will shed light for regions with a vocational school education system with experience from this practice.
