Abstract

This chapter examines the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) PIA standard 22307:2008 Financial services — Privacy impact assessment, its development and what it means as an ISO voluntary consensus standard for the financial services industry. The chapter has been written from the perspective of both the convenor of the ISO 22307:2008’s development and the chairman of the American National Standards Institute’s (ANSI) Accredited Standards Committee X9 working group where much of the ISO 22307:2008 early content was developed.
