Samenvatting

Genderincongruentie is voor elk individu anders, waarbij er ook verschillende behandelwensen kunnen zijn, zoals erkenning, begeleiding, hormonale behandeling of chirurgie. Hoe dan ook heeft de ervaren genderincongruentie veel impact op de persoon en diens omgeving. Een gendersensitieve benadering en kennis van behandelopties kan de arts-patiëntrelatie alleen maar ten goede komen. Ook na een succesvol afgerond traject kan er nog sprake zijn van genderdysfore gevoelens en nazorg nodig zijn.
