Abstract

De functies van de nieren en van de urinewegen hangen nauw met elkaar samen, maar verschillen toch sterk van elkaar. De nieren vervullen een belangrijke rol bij de handhaving van de homeostase. Door de productie van urine worden eindproducten van de stofwisseling geëlimineerd en wordt de samenstelling van de extracellulaire vloeistof binnen nauwe grenzen gehandhaafd.
