Risicomanagement – voorbeelden uit de psychiatrische zorgketen

Samenvatting

Nederlandse epidemiologische studies laten zien dat circa 25 procent van de algehele bevolking in de levensloop minimaal eenmaal wordt getroffen door een episode met ernstige psychiatrische ontregeling (Vollenbergh et al., 2003). Kenmerkend voor deze episoden is dat er forse belemmeringen in het dagelijks functioneren kunnen optreden. In ons land krijgt ongeveer 5 procent van de bevolking ondersteuning van ggz-professionals. Binnen de groep die in zorg is bij ggz-instellingen laat circa 15 procent bij perioden zeer riskant gedrag zien dat soms aanleiding geeft tot acuut ingrijpen of hulp in gedwongen kaders. In dit hoofdstuk worden zorgketenaspecten besproken die centraal staan bij het minimaliseren van acuut en subacuut gevaar bij patiënten die in beeld komen bij zorgprofessionals door het vertonen van riskant gedrag. In het verlengde hiervan worden opties besproken die effectieve ketenzorg kunnen bevorderen voor mensen in een psychiatrische of ernstige psychische crisis.
