Samenvatting

Van oudsher worden de mechanismen van hartritmestoornissen onderverdeeld in stoornissen in de prikkelvorming en in stoornissen in de prikkelgeleiding. Progressie in het wetenschappelijk onderzoek naar hartritmestoornissen heeft geleid tot een beschrijving van nieuwe mechanismen, zoals die van de fibrillatoire geleiding, die niet in het bestaande stramien kunnen worden ondergebracht. In dit hoofdstuk wordt daarom een andere indeling gebruikt, waarin de oude indeling overigens eenvoudig is te herkennen (tabel 30.1).
