Abstract

De radiologie is ontstaan met de ontdekking van de röntgenstralen door J.C. Röntgen in 1895. De omvang van de radiologie is in de loop der jaren toegenomen door de komst van invasieve vasculaire technieken, echografie, computertomografie (CT) en kernspintomografie (magnetic resonance imaging, MRI). Naast de diagnostische verrichtingen is de laatste twintig jaar het aantal minimaal invasieve therapeutische ingrepen op geleide van beeldvormende technieken sterk toegenomen.
