Abstract
The medial branches of the dorsal rami of the spinal nerves, which innervate the facet joints, carry pain signals from the facet joints in the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine and the sacroiliac joint to the central nervous system. When facet joint syndrome is diagnosed, application of high-frequency thermocoagulation or pulse radiofrequency to these nerves under radiologic guidance is highly effective.
