Zusammenfassung
Zwillings- und Adoptivstudien gelten als die gebräuchlichsten Methoden, um den Anlage- und Umweltanteil an der Entwicklung abzuschätzen. In diesem Kapitel werden beide Herangehensweisen mit ihren Vor- und Nachteilen erläutert und es wird weiterhin auf die Interpretation von Erblichkeitskoeffizienten eingegangen. Es wird jedoch darüber hinaus ebenfalls verdeutlich, dass auch Genanalysen einen möglichen Ansatz bieten, mehr über die genetischen Grundlagen von psychologischen Merkmalen (wie Intelligenz, Depressivität oder Ängstlichkeit) zu erfahren. Abschließend wird insbesondere auf Beiträge aus der Epigenetikforschung eingegangen, die eine Wechselwirkung zwischen Anlage und Umwelt annimmt und davon ausgeht, dass die Umwelt dazu beiträgt, bestimmte Gene (und ihre Wirkungen) zu aktivieren bzw. stumm zu schalten.
