FormalPara DefinitionIm Gegensatz zur Osmolalität, bei der die Konzentration auf kg Wasser bezogen wird, ist die Osmolarität die Gesamtkonzentration aller gelösten und osmotisch wirksamen Teilchen pro Volumeneinheit. Die Maßeinheit ist daher mOsmol/L (konventionell) bzw. mmol/L (international). In der klinisch-chemischen Diagnostik wird als Messgröße nur noch die Osmolalität verwendet.
