Roger Penrose and Stuart Hameroff

Abstract

Sir Roger Penrose (born on 8 August 1931) is a British mathematician who has given outstanding contributions in mathematical physics, especially within the fields of general relativity and cosmology. He has also collaborated with British theoretical physicist and cosmologist Stephen Hawking, with whom he shared the Wolf Prize for physics in 1988. Penrose studied at University College London, where he graduated in mathematics. In 1958, he earned his PhD from the University of Cambridge. He currently is Emeritus Rouse Ball Professor of Mathematics at the Mathematical Institute of the University of Oxford and Emeritus Fellow of Wadham College.
