Abstract
Interrelations between regulation and self-regulation as well as politics and the media are controversial ones, especially in the countries under study. The political accountability frame refers to the role of the political sector in the context of holding the media accountable, including media policies (Section 4.3) and public media. Hence, this chapter explores the framework for the emergence of media accountability in the realm of the political sector, putting a focus on legal and regulatory measures which affect the performance of the media.
