Zusammenfassung

Die Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO) definiert psychische Gesundheit als „Zustand des Wohlbefindens, in dem eine Person ihre Fähigkeiten ausschöpfen, die normalen Lebensbelastungen bewältigen, produktiv arbeiten und etwas zu ihrer Gemeinschaft beitragen kann“ (vgl. Bericht über die 63. Tagung des WHO-Regionalkomitees für Europa 2013). Die psychische Gesundheit steht nach dieser Definition in einem engen Zusammenhang mit den sozioökonomischen Umständen im Lebensverlauf eines Menschen. Auf der gesellschaftlichen Ebene trägt die psychische Gesundheit zur sozialen Gerechtigkeit, zur Solidarität, zum Wohlstand und zum Frieden bei.
