Zusammenfassung
Filmfarben standen lange Zeit weder im Fokus eines analytischen noch eines kritischen Zugangs zum Film. Bis heute gibt es hauptsächlich zwei Forschungslinien zu Filmfarben, die in der Regel strikt voneinander getrennt sind. Die eine Perspektive fokussiert auf die technischen Verfahren aus naturwissenschaftlicher Sicht, während die geisteswissenschaftliche Forschung die ästhetischen und narrativen Aspekte untersucht. Ein umfassender analytischer Zugang zur Materie sollte die historischen wie auch die materiellen und kulturellen Grundlagen von Filmfarben berücksichtigen. Vor allem aber gilt es, die strukturelle wie auch die bildästhetische Organisation der Farbschemata mit Blick auf deren sensorische Qualitäten gegenüber einer hermeneutischen Interpretation von Farbbedeutungen zu privilegieren.
