Die USA ist für die Geschlechterforschung ein wichtiger Ort; die Theoriebildung an US-amerikanischen Universitäten ist global sehr einflussreich. Dieser Beitrag zeigt, wie sich Gender Studies aus den amerikanischen Women’s Studies entwickelt hat, und unternimmt den Versuch einer Bestandsaufnahme.
