Integrated Photoelasticity

  • Chapter
Photoelasticity of Glass

Abstract

The simplest way to investigate stresses in a three-dimensional transparent specimen is to put it into an immersion bath and pass polarized light through it. Transformation of the state of polarization which can be measured on many rays, contains information about the stresses in the model. This method is named integrated photoelasticity.
