Abstract
Plant derived oils bear a large potential for the substitution of currently used petrochemicals. Polymer containing transition metal elements in their backbone continue to be of considerable interest. Cobalt and Zinc containing oil based polyesteramide resins were developed by condensation polymerization reaction. Spectroscopic techniques such as FTIR and 1HNMR have been used to establish the structure of the polymer. Presence of metal has been confirmed through AAS. Standard laboratory methods were used to study the physicochemical characteristics like acid value, hydroxyl value, saponification value, iodine value, specific gravity, and viscosity. The thermal behavior of the polymer was analyzed by TG/DTA.
