Der Artikel beschreibt die Veränderungen in der Automatisierungstechnik in den letzten Jahren. Er verweist auf neue Kommunikationstechniken und ihre Möglichkeiten und formuliert die Erwartung, dass die Automatisierungstechnik eine ähnlich tiefgreifende Veränderung durchlaufen wird, wie sie die IT-Landschaft in der Folge des Internet-Booms durchlaufen hat.
