Abstract

Restorative sleep and intact pain perception are both vital to survival. These important health systems share a bidirectional relationship. Patients with chronic pain invariably have sleep disturbances and sleep disruption can result in hyperalgesia (1). Also, therapies used in pain management can have a variety of effects on sleep. Addressing sleep has an important role in chronic pain management.
