Abstract
Owing to an extensive range of motion, the stability of the shoulder joint depends heavily on important ligament and muscular attachments. Overuse or acute injuries to any of these structures predisposes to the pathologic conditions of shoulder pain and instability. Isolation of anatomic structures through physical exam is crucial to develop a differential diagnosis and treatment plan.
