Abstract
Electrical noise can be either conducted or radiated. Grounding can prevent conducted noise problems. Radiated noise is more difficult to deal with. Most touch controllers support noise avoidance and noise cancellation techniques such as frequency hopping and measurement filtering. There are several standard tests for noise including IEC 61000-6 for radiated emissions, IEC 61000-4-3 for radiated immunity, IEC 61000-4-6 for conducted immunity, and IEC 61000-4-2 for ESD. There are also several US military standards which are more complicated and more stringent. The best way to avoid noise problems is by implementing risk mitigation strategies during the design phase.
