Abstract
Hepatic lesions in children can occur on a background of normal or abnormal liver parenchyma, and the differential diagnosis includes vascular malformations, benign and malignant tumours, cysts, abscesses and metastatic lesions. Understanding of radioimaging physics is pivotal in differential diagnosis and also to stage and plan surgery in symptomatic benign lesions which fail medical therapy and malignant tumours. They are best managed by a multidisciplinary team with expertise in hepatobiliary interventions. The indications of liver transplantation in hepatic lesions are spanning to include benign and some rare non-metastatic malignant lesions where complete resection is not possible. Molecular markers are under research and will add to our knowledge of tumour behaviour.
