Abstract
Macpherson’s debt to the views of Karl Polanyi in criticizing the basic ideas of founders of neoliberalism (Ludwig von Hayek and Milton Friedman) as well as more recent incarnations is underscored, and the central features of neoliberalism as Macpherson understands it are identified, including its amoral subjectivism, the marketization of politics, universal commodification, and anti-humanism, among other features.
