Abstract
We don’t want to get rid of all anxiety. It’s an important human emotion which alerts us to feelings of threat, risk and danger. Often it’s associated with the ‘fight or flight’ response where our body prepares itself to flee from or fight against a threat. It’s a crucial warning mechanism and we need it. This chapter therefore seeks to normalise a degree of anxiety so that we learn to adjudicate, regulate or choose how to react to an anxiety-provoking situation.
