Abstract
The ability of images to communicate eco-messages linked to the Planet Earth comes from the prehistoric times of mankind. The modern high-tech society has accustomed us to conventional and non-conventional means of communication which reinforce any Environmental message. Furthermore, the artistic abilities of Man, together with the new creative techniques and ICT technologies, allow us to play association games among words, images, colours, shapes, lines, spaces and signs. This multidimensional approach addressed to the audience is able to give rise to strong emotions that can really produce a social change towards a more sustainable and participated lifestyle, provided to follow the right eco-interpretation. The visual-artistic language is considered one of the most efficient and quick tool to communicate and raise the awareness on Environmental issues, meeting the constant human need to interpret Nature. Communicating the Environment means designing architectural structures able to be integrated and interact with the natural dimension, understanding problems and proposing possible solutions that can ensure a peaceful coexistence between Man and Nature. On the front of design, the research of new sustainable materials and the rationalisation of the packaging enable to communicate the Environmental message even through objects.
