Abstract

Business Information Technology (Business IT) is among the areas in which many organizations are at risk of losing the most experienced and skilled workforce. Imagine a number of individuals who have overseen an organization’s Business IT for an extended duration of 20 years or more—professionals who have overseen countless software development projects and migrations from legacy systems and web technology to mobile technology. Without proper succession planning and solid data preservation strategies, companies are at risk of losing the knowledge acquired by experienced Business IT individuals and teams. IT leaders are encouraged to anticipate turnover and emphasize the value of succession planning by ensuring that legacy workforce experts work side by side with the new generation workforce to preserve legacy knowledge.
