Abstract
Colonoscopy is the cornerstone of colorectal cancer screening, diagnosis, and management. Adenomatous polyps are precancerous lesions that have risk for adenocarcinoma transformation. Adenoma detection is the key to screening and prevention of colorectal cancer. Several technological advances have been made to improve polyp detection. Some advances have been made to help distinguish normal mucosa from abnormal, while others improve the field of view. Chromoendoscopy improves the visualization of the mucosal pattern. Various other accessory devices or novel colonoscopes flatten folds or are able to look behind folds for improved visual field. Some of these advances will be discussed here.
