Abstract

A novel air gap loaded rectangular microstrip antenna integrated with a shorting post and circular defected ground structure has been proposed in this paper. The proposed structure covers full C band frequency and provides 72% impedance bandwidth. The structure also provide stable radiation pattern with average gain of 5.08 dBi within the whole operating band of frequency. The detailed study has been carried out through commercially available software HFSSv13 and documented in this paper. The proposed antenna will be very much useful in the wireless communication systems which require broadband frequency range of operation.
