Abstract
Perennial floating-leaved herb with thick rhizome rooting in sediment. Floating leaves cordate, leathery, on 50–250 cm long elastic petioles, stomata only on the upper leaf side. Submerged leaves thinner with undulate margins and on shorter petiole. Flowers solitary above water, 4–6 cm in diameter, on long pedicels, both sepals and petals yellow. Fruit is a flask-shaped capsule ripening above water. Terrestrial form known.
