A framework analysis approach was used to analyse tabulated results (Guest 2012). Transcripts were reviewed several times by the research team and using a highlighter in a tabulated approach, codes and recurrent themes were identified before the final analysis was drawn. After research team familiarization with data and transcripts, the initial codes were generated manually, using a framework analysis (Braun 2006). All codes relating to the topic of surgery and bladder cancer were identified. Within these codes the over-arching themes were identified and named.
Transcripts were then reviewed for evidence for and against these codes:
Erectile dysfunction |
Age related |
Side effects post op |
Psychological impact from ED |
Support needed with impact of operation on general health |
