Abstract
This chapter describes a surgical procedure for anal stricturoplasty. The text includes an introduction that outlines the indications, risks, alternatives, essential steps, equipment, and variations in technique. This is followed by a template operative dictation, which provides the reader with an operative report, such as is found in a patient chart or electronic medical record. A description is provided of the following critical concepts for this procedure: (1) placement of traction sutures in four quadrants, (2) radial incision of the anal stricture in four quadrants, and (3) suturing of the rectal mucosa to the skin longitudinally with absorbable sutures.
