Abstract
This chapter considers the strategies that are employed by Cuba and CARICOM as they strive for economic growth and development. The chapter examines the nature and trends in trade and economic relations between Cuba and CARICOM. It outlines the institutional framework governing the trade between Cuba and CARICOM with emphasis on the CARICOM-Cuba Trade and Economic Cooperation Agreement (TECA). Although trade is growing, the economic relationship continues to be marred by various challenges.

CARIFORUM refers to the group of Caribbean States which are signatories of the Georgetown Agreement of 1975 by virtue of which the African, Caribbean, and Pacific Group of States (ACP) was created. All CARIFORUM States, with the exception of Cuba, are signatories to the Cotonou Agreement and the economic partnership agreement (EPA).
