Abstract
The results of the empirical study revealed a pronounced asthenic neurotic syndrome with significant psychosomatic disorders, an increased level of psychopathization, symptoms of such mental disorders as depressiveness, emotional lability, asthenic (cerebro-asthenic) are observed. In a new situation, respondents experience short-term interest and satisfaction of their needs for exciting situations, acute affective experiences. A low level of spiritual and moral development, personal characteristics, borderline states, painful deformation of the psyche do not allow them to adequately assess their actions as illegal. A motive of behavior of this personality type is a pronounced desire to satisfy their needs. Actions allow the implementation of their typical behavior, the desire to satisfy their needs, to act only according to their needs and desires. The delay in the satisfaction of a sudden desire often appears to be intolerable, tormenting and even painful for such persons. Persons under investigation feel that they have committed something more significant than they usually do and the situation can become extremely negative for them, but they hope for a successful outcome and do not realize the significance of their actions.
The study of the detainee’s mental characteristics is important for organizing the entire correction process and developing recommendations for preventing the destructive behavior of persons under investigation due to their mental state.
