Abstract
Automation is seen as one of the key technologies that considerably will shape our society and will sustainably influence future mobility, transportation modes, and our quality of life. Many benefits are expected ranging from reduced accidents, efficient people/freight/goods movement, effective multi-modal transport (on-road, off-road, sea, air), better road/vehicle utilization, or social inclusion. Beyond mobility, automation creates tremendous impact in production, health-care, and eventually our everyday life.
