A Chronicle Review of Code Mixing and Switching or Language Exchanging in Punjabi Movie Names

Abstract

In recent years, using code-mixing phenomenon is going popular and handy in media such as movie industry, newspapers etc. Punjabi film industry is also not separated from this. ‘ANGREJI’ the first metonym word was used for ‘ENGLISH’ language in North India especially in Punjab and Haryana states. Punjabi movie industry or Pollywood is most growing business all over the world. In this study a number of movies names are collected from various websites using Roman scripts. It is observed in the study that language mixing used in movies name make good business and positive impact on youth and people who reside in India and abroad. The corpus of study considered that all the Punjabi movies which are released in last seven years and also define effects of Punjabi Cinema on Bollywood. This study has confirmed that the using of roman script in movies name has enhanced in meaningful manner year by year.
