Abstract

The research presents the study of an architectural and cultural heritage unique in the world, the village of Civita di Bagnoregio, in the province of Viterbo, known by all as “the city that dies”, due to the progressive erosion of the tuff rock on which it is located. In particular, the study is carried out through surveying operations and the consequent restitution of the three-dimensional documents in the BIM (Building Information Modeling) environment. Relevant to the survey, data process acquisition was conducted through laser scanners and photographic campaigns and regarding the return in BIM environment, the software used for the representations is Autodesk Revit. The acquired data consists of a set of points as a cloud of points, which are appropriately discretized, scaled and processed for future parametric processing. The aim of the research, open and in continuous evolution, aims at the conservation and enhancement of the village of Civita di Bagnoregio through a precise analysis of the delicate historical-architectural heritage. The acquisition of construction and architectural data allows the preparation of the projects for structural monitoring and the planning of conservation interventions. After a general overview of the architectural and cultural condition of the village, the research focuses on the survey and consequent parametric and semantic restoration of a hypogean mill, present in the historical building, part of Civita.
