Abstract
Coogan draws on recent work in speculative realist philosophy to provide a reading of Twin Peaks: The Return in which the fates of its characters are defined as much by human agency and relationships as they are by the quasi-agency of the non-human object world. From its mystical artifacts to the objectification of its characters, Coogan argues that Lynch’s world is one which rejects the correlationism of phenomenological thought and embraces a perspective which draws out the non-human world and puts it on equal footing with human experience.
