Abstract
Bone dies just like other tissues, when interrupted from blood supply. This dead bone is also called skeletal infarction, osteonecrosis, avascular necrosis, bone infarction or medullary infarct. The disease occurs more frequently in males than in females (8:1), and the patients are usually less than 50 years of age.
