Abstract
This chapter discusses sustainable community systems from a design and systems perspective. The socio-political and political backgrounds of communities do, of course, vary from country to country. Although a sense of general commonality is believed to exist despite the diversity of and individual differences between different political set-ups, any peculiar distinctive features should not be ignored. However, instead of focusing on the differences, it is crucial to emphasise the importance of maintaining balance and harmony between sustainability and the way systems are designed and built. For clarity, the relationship between sustainable communities and moral values is also analysed here.
