Abstract
Work is currenty progressing, using REDUCE for prototyping. This paper has outlined the scope of a new research project, whose necessity arises both from the computational imperative of applying algebra to CAD and the difficulties of applying existing systems to this problem. The authors are currently working on the detailed specification of the memory management system, and the model domain. During the life of the project the authors expect to investigate the topics discussed in the paper and to derive and implement Computer Algebra based techniques for solving them.
